Good afternoon everyone, and happy Friday.

Are you based in Milan, London, or Paris? If so, please reply to this email and introduce yourself. I’m thinking about hosting a few events next year for The Stanza’s most dedicated readers…

An update on the podcast: I’m excited for you all to listen to the next season because the line-up is absolutely insane.

I’m also curious:

If you were intent on building a future at the intersection of hospitality, design, and AI-driven service, where would you meaningfully place your time?

I would work every job, from the bottom up. Start in housekeeping, spend some time in the kitchen, as a bellhop, concierge, front desk, etc. As a young person, you have time on your side and you should first pay your dues. By paying your dues, you not only gain solid skills that are necessary to succeed, you also get a fresh view of the industry and therefore can see what problems need to be solved and how. Too many young people think they can graduate from university and skip straight to doing the “cool job”. It just doesn’t work that way. Credibility is everything, and credibility must be earned. (*This person mentioned that he’s in his early 20’s.)

What do you think of stores inside hotels? Is there real ROI, or is it mostly positioning?
