Introducing: Investment Committee
Zero Bond may be acquired by the investor behind The Corner Store
Hi everyone - I’m writing this on a plane back to Milan from LA. Spending 2 weeks in the US has re-energized me with a healthy dose of American optimism that I had been missing for the time I was away. If you live in LA or NYC and wish you lived in Europe, just know that the grass isn’t always greener! Learning to appreciate the pros and cons of all environments while being grateful for the opportunity to live in a city that’s desirable at all is something I’m trying to be more aware of. Thank you to everyone who has welcomed be back with open arms and for supporting The Stanza.
Some exciting news: I’m introducing a new column called “Investment Committee”. You can send me your pitch deck and I will share extensive constructive feedback to the newsletter audience. A lot of you write to me asking for feedback on your businesses and I thought this would be the most efficient way to give value to everyone in The Stanza’s universe. Pitch decks on any focus areas for The Stanza will be prioritized - hotels, members clubs, wellness clubs, fashion tech, and fashion brands. The feedback will be structured like a light investment committee memo:
Business overview
Investment highlights
Comparable data points
Risks & mitigants
Would I invest?
The deck itself will not be shared with the audience, and founders can opt to have their business name under an anonymous alias. This feature is for paid subscribers only - please use the same email from your newsletter subscription for your pitch deck submission here. Excited to see your pitch decks!
In today’s newsletter: hospitality merch, Zero Bond acquisition, more CPG deals, an Italian restaurant group expansion, food x fashion in Paris, modern country clubs in the flesh.
VISUALLY INTERESTING
Stationery for the British Pullman, a Belmond Train. Whenever I see cool merch for hotel brands I always want to know who designed it. In this case, Romeo + Jules, a studio based in London and Dubai, does a lot of stationery and merch design for several Belmond Hotels. I think more members club brands should be leaning into this, like the SVB phone stickers.
