Happy Friday everyone.

I’m sending today’s newsletter from the a place I would describe as sublime, discreet, and idyllic. The only hint I can give now is that I’m in Sicily, in a lesser known spot that you all will know of soon ;)

Last week’s title struck a chord amongst a lot of you, to the point that several of you wrote to me echoing the same sentiment. Doing the bottle service thing at a beach club was for your 20s. It’s annoying and overstimulating when the music is way too loud and you’re trying to enjoy your overpriced lunch, especially when the sax players enter (God bless them) and you have to yell to be heard. In fact, it gives me indigestion and therefore I’ve decided this summer to just avoid these experiences all together. It seems that a lot of you feel similarly, and therefore I’d love to know where you’re doing your “Eurosummer” this year. Share with me via email, DM, or comment on this Substack post.

In today’s newsletter: fashion x commercial real estate, a distressed fashion acquisition, indie perfume brands backed by private equity, an Italian luxury train experience, and more…

“Baccanale in onore di Pan” by Sebastiano Ricci c.1716

I started this week catching the end of the Venice Biennale. This year’s focus was on architecture, and while I admit most of the exhibits I saw that focused on architecture were a bit dry, something that stayed with me is the Galleria dell’Accademia. I love Italian Renaissance art the most - the detail of the facial expressions, the scenes, and the incredible technique always make me feel something. I suppose that’s why this period has lasting implications on art, culture, and design centuries later and centuries to come.
